The Labour Party’s 2023 Presidential Candidate, Peter Obi, has once again voiced his concerns over the federal government’s allocation of funds, citing what he describes as financial recklessness and misplaced priorities.
Obi expressed his dismay at the continued expenditure of public resources on nonessential projects, highlighting the disparity between crucial areas of development and frivolous spending.
In a statement on his platform, the former Anambra State Governor emphasized the dire state of Nigeria’s education sector, noting the country’s low enrollment rates compared to global averages.
He lamented the meager budget allocation of N1 billion for hostel construction in 12 tertiary institutions, juxtaposed with the staggering N10 billion earmarked for car parks and recreational facilities.
Obi urged for a shift towards financial discipline, advocating for resources to be channeled into critical areas of human and national development to address the country’s pressing needs.
