BAUCHI (SUNDIATA POST)- The Wife of the Bauchi State Governor, Dr Aishatu Mohammed said that the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI) has made positive impact in making life better for Nigerians since inception.
Mohammed said this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Monday in Bauchi.
The RHI is the initiative of the First Lady, Sen. Oluremi Tinubu, which seek to improve the quality of life for everyone in the community by promoting civic engagement, economic development and social cohesion.
She said the initiative provides essential services to those in need and the vulnerable such as orphans, widows, senior citizens and the marginalised groups.
Mohammed, who is also the North-East Zonal Coordinator of the programme, lauded Tinubu for the viable intervention aimed at addressing humanitarian challenges in the region.
“The North-East zone and the states have benefited immensely through different empowerment and financial support programmes.
“Our senior citizens have been supported. I recall the initiative empowered 250 elders with N100,000 each, while 100 women farmers drwan from the six states of the zone received N500,000 each,” she said.
The gesture, she said, would encourage the beneficiaries to engage in crop production, animal husbandry, poultry and fish farming.
She urged the beneficiaries to ensure effective utilisation of the fund to boost their production out put and enhance food security in the country.
Mohammed said that the RHI also provided financial support to persons with disabilities to enable them to expand their seed capital and boots their businesses.
According to Mohammed, the RHI is working in collaboration with National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), and established an ICT Community Centre in Bauchi, to enhance women access to IT technology.
“The formal opening of the centre marks a strategic step towards setting the path for women and girls to participate and thrive in the digital revolution.
“The RHI also donated 50,000 books and instructional materials for distribution to pupils in Bauchi State,” she said, adding the gesture was to complement government efforts towards ensuring delivery of free quality education for all. (NAN)
