Fire guts NDIC building in Lagos, no life lost

ABUJA – Fire gutted the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Company (NDIC) building, Mamman Kontagora House, 23 Marina, Lagos on Wednesday.

This is contained in a statement by the NDIC’s Head of Communication and Public Affairs, Habi Bichi.

According to the statement, “the incident occurred this morning but luckily, no life was lost and valuable documents and materials were not destroyed.

“The NDIC has temporarily relocated from Mamman Kontagura House to NECOM House at 15 Marina, Lagos.”

The statement said NDIC will return to Mamman Kontagura House on April 20.

Alhaji Umaru Ibrahim, Director/Chief Executive Officer of NDIC and Alhaji Gimbayau Kumo, Managing Director Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria (FMBN) were among the first dignitaries that visited the scene.

They described the incident as “very unfortunate.”

The statement said the management thanked the general public, Lagos State Fire Service, and Nigerian Ports Authority for their support during the incident. (NAN)
