Former Nigerian Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Solomon Dalung, led a protest on Thursday in Jos, Plateau State, against bad governance, hunger, and economic hardship.
He was joined by Prophet Isa El-Buba, a well-known pastor, drawing hundreds of residents to the streets. Protesters marched through various areas, voicing their dissatisfaction with the current state of governance and economic challenges in the country.
Dalung, who served under ex-President Muhammadu Buhari, stressed the constitutional right to peaceful assembly and urged security agencies not to intimidate the demonstrators.
Prophet El-Buba, heading the Initiative for a Better and Brighter Nigeria, called for President Bola Tinubu to step down, criticizing his governance. He emphasized the urgency of the situation, saying that waiting until 2027 for change is untenable due to the prevailing hunger and hardship.
“We are going to be here for the next 10 days. If you don’t stand up for your rights, no one will do it for you. President Bola Tinubu must resign; we cannot wait for 2027 to change him! Hunger will not allow us to endure that long,” El-Buba declared.
