KANO (Sundiata Post) – Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has expressed displeasure over the rising prices of goods and services in the state in the wake of the curfew imposed on the state during the protest
This was contained in a statement issued by the Governor’s spokesperson, Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, yesterday.
Speaking during the meeting held at the Government House, Kano, Yusuf observed that within hours of relaxing the curfew, the prices of basic commodities, especially staple foods, had skyrocketed to an unimaginable level.
He urged stakeholders to work together to reduce the prices, while appealing to the business community to consider the plights of the people, particularly during this trying time of nationwide protest
He urged the businessmen to unite and revive the existing moribund industries across the state, while hinting at the establishment of a price control board with a view to addressing the artificial inflation.
Yusuf expressed readiness to arrange an interactive session between the government and the parliamentarians from the state to create a forum to support businesses and industries in the state.
In his remarks, Chairmen, Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission (PCACC), Muhuyi Magaji Rimin Gado, disclosed that the agency had received 156 complaints within the last two days regarding the skyrocketing prices of basic commodities in the state.
He pledged to collaborate with the business community to ensure stable business interactions in the state.
