ABUJA (SUNDIATA POST)- The National Hospital, Abuja (NHA), is seeking for partnership with the News Agency of
Nigeria (NAN) to enhance its visibility and showcase the hospital’s achievements.
The Chief Medical Director (CMD) of the hospital, Prof. Mahmud Raji, sought for the collaboration
during a courtesy visit to the agency’s Managing Director, Malam Ali Muhammad Ali, on Tuesday in Abuja.
He said that the partnership would be handy as the hospital concludes arrangements to mark its 25th anniversary,
with a week-long activities from Sept. 2 to Sept. 8.
Raji said that the main event for the anniversary would take place on Sept. 4, and would include lectures, a gala and an award night.
He highlighted the importance of partnerships in addressing key challenges such as brain drain and medical tourism.
He added that “the National Hospital in the past 25 years served as cornerstone of healthcare delivery in Nigeria, yet, much of it are not
widely known.
“We are here to collaborate with NAN to tell our story and attract both Nigerians and non-Nigerians to seek medical care within the country.”
In response, the NAN managing director commended the National Hospital’s leadership and assured its full support.
Ali said “we take this collaboration seriously because of our close relationship with the National Hospital and its leadership.
“You can be assured that we will give the event (the NHA 25th anniversary) the priority it deserves.
“We have seen the positive changes at the National Hospital, particularly under the current leadership, and we are confident that
this collaboration will help to reverse the trend of medical tourism.”
He reiterated the agency’s readiness to give adequate publicity needed to highlight the hospital’s achievements and its role in the national healthcare system.
“We are proud to support the National Hospital in its efforts to improve healthcare delivery in Nigeria and look forward to a successful anniversary celebration,” he said.
He shared his personal attachment to the National Hospital, emphasising its significance to the national healthcare landscape and the importance of accessible
