CALABAR – The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), on Tuesday, presented certificates of return to Cross River Governor-elect, Mr Benedict Ayade and other members of the National Assembly from the state.
Presenting the certificates, Mrs Thelma Iremirem, the INEC National Electoral Commissioner, said it was the mandate of the Commission to present certificates of return to election winners.

She said “expectations are high; the people who voted you in are consciously waiting for your leadership and dividends of democracy.
“Government is a continuous process; I want to advise the governor-elect and other legislators to always fulfill their campaign promises.’’
She then presented certificates of return to the eight members of the House of Representatives representing the eight federal constituencies in the state.
She said the two senators-elect who were absent at the ceremony would have to visit INEC headquarters in Abuja to obtain their certificates as it would not be issued by proxy.
Dr Sylvester Okey-Ezeani, the INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner in the state, said the presentation of certificates was one of the mandates of the commission.
