Abuja (Sundiata Post) – The Senior Special Assistant (SSA), on Igbo affairs to the Plateau State Governor, Barr. Caleb Mutfwang, has adjudged the just concluded State Local Government Elections to be the best in the history of the State.
The aid, Hon. Felix Akpunku said in precious local council elections organised by the previous government, only affirmation of governors anointed candidates were announced.
He said he has never witnessed a situation where the State Independent Electoral umpire will be as neutral as the federal INEC, notwithstanding they are being bankrolled by the State government.
“The testament of this election is also the fact that there is no violence recorded. It means that people and the different political parties are all pleased with the outcome.
“The Governor has proven that he is a man of his words. He has allowed free, fair and credible elections.
“The outcome of this election clearly shows that the people are happy with the performance of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), just in a short time of being in office”, he said.
Akpunku also lauded the Director of Press and Public Affairs to the Governor, Dr. Gyang Bere, for his effective media communication and dissemination of information throughout the period of the electioneering process.
He congratulated all the winners of the elections and called on those that lost to join hands in building the State.
“Congratulations to the PDP and the election winners on their historic electoral victory and my warmest wishes for a new lease of life for Plateau State and its people.
“I very much hope the winners and the losers will work together to strengthen democracy and maintain the trajectory of development in the State.
“I commend law enforcement agencies for the efforts that they put in ensuring a peaceful election and the multitude of election officials who strive to improve their act from the previous elections,” he said.
Akpunku prayed for more remarkable progress in the State and nations democracy.
