Abuja (Sundiata Post) – Donald Trump has “learned lessons” from 2016 and is intent on making good personnel decisions ahead of taking office again, according to one of his senior campaign officials.
The president-elect spent yesterday speaking to world leaders from Mar-a-Lago in Florida after defeating Kamala Harris in the election.
“They were genuinely happy to talk to him and know that he was coming back, and he won this big election, and he said things like he had learned lessons,” the official said.
Across the board, there was a similar sense of both relief and “like having an old friend home”, they added.
Trump is said to have lost some of his “bitterness” and seems intent on making good appointments to his teams, something which the president-elect “knows was his Achilles heel” after winning in 2016.
The source says Trump feels better about everything – himself, his accomplishments, and is buoyed by the results of the election.
He’s also said to be intent on fulfilling his promises to the people who elected him, whether that’s on energy or his promise not to add tax on tips.
“This was a campaign about working Americans and everyday working Americans,” the official says.
“I don’t think they did that in 2016, because it wasn’t as well thought-out… They won, and that was it. They forgot why they were brought there.”
As well as speaking to more world leaders, Trump will today be meeting with the transition team as he turns his sights to returning to the White House.
