Abuja (Sundiata Post) – The Jos Electricity Distribution Company (JED), has assured local communities in Southern and Central zones of Plateau State that the 132KV line supplying electricity to the zone will soon be completed.
JED said when completed electricity supply in the area will improve significantly.
The electricity company stated this recently during a customers consultative forum engagement with the Pankshin community, a local government council in the State.
“We are in Pankshin to interface with customers on the latest developments in the energy sector including issues of vandalism, energy theft and the newly introduced e-billing system”, a statement signed by the Spokesman of JED, Dr. Friday Elijah, said.
Elijah also informed that the Managing Director of the company, Engr Abdu Bello Mohammed, assured customers at the forum that the company would strive to live up to its mandate of delivering regular and reliable power supply to the area.
“The current low power supply to the area was orchestrated by the poor allocation from the national grid due to the yet-to-be-restored second 330kV kv line from the Ugwuaji-Enugu-Makurdi line. As soon as the line is restored, supply to the area will significantly improve”, Bello said.
The statement included that the Managing Director was represented by the Bukuru Regional Manager in Jos South, Engr Williams Galadima.
The consultative engagement educated customers on their rights and obligations, our correspondent reports.
According to Elijah: “JED is in partnership with its customers, and there is a need for customers to lay complaints on service shortfalls as we have our customer service touch points established to receive and resolve their complaints.
“We take customer sensitization as a key step to effective service delivery as a precursor to revenue generation”.
He said the head of Security, Alhaji Musa Abdullahi, called on customers to take ownership of electricity installations in their respective areas of residence, stressing that the vandalism does no one any good.
He added that Abdullahi told consumers that if they allow vandals to continue stealing electricity installations they would have their socio-economic growth stunted.
“We, therefore, call on the people not to see electricity installations in their areas as properties belonging to the company alone. Don’t allow any unscrupulous elements to destroy what belongs to you”.
