The Zonal Commanding Officer, RS5 Benin, Assistant Corp Marshal, Charles Akpabio, gave the advice when he decorated newly promoted officers and marshals in the zone with their new ranks in Benin.
Akpabio urged the personnel to always wear protective clothing while on any rescue operation because of the recent case of Ebola decease in Lagos.
He said officers of the corps must apply caution while effectively carrying out their functions as safety agents on the roads.
Akpabio also advised officers and marshals to desist from taking bribe in the cause of performing their duties, saying that “there is consequence for such act when caught.[eap_ad_2]
“We, as safety officers and marshals, must fight road traffic congestion and always caution erring motorists and apprehend recalcitrant drivers to serve as deterrent to others instead of taking bribe to rubbish the image of the corps,’’ he said.
He congratulated the newly promoted and decorated officers and marshals, saying “the reward for hard work is hard work.
“But be rest assured that hard work pays and that management monitoring team is watching everyone of us whether in the line of duty or not,’’ he said.
A total of 73 officers and 73 marshals in the zone benefitted from the promotions.
The zone comprises Edo, Delta and Anambra states. (NAN)[eap_ad_3]
