The apex Igbo socio-cultural group, Ohanaeze N’digbo Worldwide, has elected Dim Uche Nnamdi Okwukwu as its new factional President General.
The election took place on Thursday night during a convention held in Port Harcourt. Okwukwu, a lawyer and former Secretary General of the group, was elected unopposed.
In his acceptance speech, Okwukwu, who hails from Elele in Rivers State, thanked the delegates for their support. He pledged to focus on uniting the divided Igbo community and tackling key issues affecting the people.
He outlined his plans to engage with the government and stakeholders to secure the release of Nnamdi Kanu and other political detainees. He also aims to push for economic growth, infrastructural improvements in Igbo regions, and address security challenges like kidnapping and violence. Furthermore, Okwukwu intends to advocate for restructuring that includes all ethnic groups.
