ABEOKUTA- An Abeokuta Chief Magistrates’ Court sitting in Isabo on Monday remanded a 30-year-old man, Kazeem Solola, for allegedly pouring hot oil on his wife, Mutiat Solola.
The defendant who resides at Ring Road, in Owode Egbe area of Abeokuta, is facing a count charge of assault.
The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The prosecutor, Insp Lawrence Olu-Balogun, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on Jan. 18, at their residence.
He said that the defendant unlawfully assaulted his wife, by pouring hot oil on her neck and body.
“The defendant also stabbed his wife on her neck and head, causing bodily harm to her,” he said.
Olu-Balogun said the problem started when the defendant accused his wife of calling another man on phone to come and eat.
He said the offence contravened Section 355 of the Criminal Code Laws of Ogun, 2006.
The Magistrate, Dr. B.O Ilo, however, did not approve the defendant’s bail application due to the critical condition of the victim.
He, thereafter, ordered that the defendant be remanded at Oba Correctional Centre until the next hearing .
The magistrate adjourned the case until Jan. 24 for hearing. (NAN)
