ITREALMS Media, through its annual Nigeria DigitalSENSE Forum (NDSF) on Internet Governance for Development (IG4D), is set to host a critical discussion on the Global Digital Compact (GDC) and its implications for Nigerian stakeholders.
The forum, themed “Global Digital Compact: Opportunities for Multi-stakeholders in Nigeria,” will take place on Thursday, June 19, 2025, at 10:00 AM at the Welcome Centre Hotels, International Airport Road, Ikeja, Lagos.
According to Ogbuefi Remmy Nweke, Lead Consulting Strategist at DigitalSENSE Africa, the GDC was recently negotiated by 193 UN Member States following extensive global consultations. It aims to bridge the digital divide and promote an inclusive digital economy.
He highlighted the key priorities of the GDC, including:
- Connecting all people, schools, and hospitals to the internet.
- Enhancing accessibility and affordability of digital technologies.
- Investing in digital public goods and infrastructure.
- Supporting women, youth innovators, and Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs).
- Building a safe, secure, and open digital environment.
The Nigeria DigitalSENSE Forum 2025 will explore how Nigeria can leverage the GDC to advance these objectives.
The NDSF series, organized by ITREALMS Media under DigitalSENSE Africa (DSA)—an ICANN-certified At-Large Structure—provides a platform for public discourse on the technological and business implications of evolving digital policies and internet governance issues.
This year’s forum is held in partnership with key institutions, including the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), and the Internet Exchange Point of Nigeria (IXPN), among others.
The event aims to raise awareness and deepen understanding of crucial Internet Governance issues, including Internet Protocol (IP) addresses, the domain name industry, and the affordability and accessibility of digital services. Additionally, it provides industry stakeholders with valuable networking opportunities.
