Renowned energy expert, Professor Barth Nnaji, is set to deliver the 2025 edition of The Bullion Lecture.
The event, themed “Architecting the Energy Sector for Nigeria’s $1-Trillion Economy Vision,” will take place on Thursday, April 10, 2025, at The Civic Centre, Victoria Island, Lagos, starting at 10 a.m.
Professor Nnaji, the Founder and CEO of Geometric Power Limited, has been recognized with three national honors: Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON), Commander of the Order of the Niger (CON), and the Nigerian National Order of Merit (NNOM). He previously served as Special Adviser to the President on Power (2010–2011), Chairman of the Presidential Task Force on Power (June 2010–July 2011), and Minister of Power (2011–2012), where he played a key role in the privatization of Nigeria’s power sector and the restructuring of NEPA.
A professor of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering, he taught at the University of Massachusetts from 1983 to 1996 and later held prestigious positions at the University of Pittsburgh. He has received multiple international accolades, including the Baker Distinguished Research Award and the Distinguished Scientist Award from the World Bank/IMF Africa Group in 1998.
The Bullion Lecture, organized by the Centre for Financial Journalism, is a platform for discussing important national and global issues. This year’s event, the ninth in the series, will feature Chief Adebayo Adelabu, Minister of Power, as the Special Guest of Honour. The lecture will be chaired by Tolulope Longe, National President of Women in Energy Oil and Gas (WEOG), with Sir Victor Okoronkwo, Group Managing Director of Aiteo E&P, and Dr. Ogho Okiti, CEO of ThinkBusiness Africa, serving as panelists.
The event is expected to attract government officials, industry leaders, financial executives, energy sector stakeholders, academics, diplomats, and media professionals.
