BBOG group raises the alarm over fresh Bokoharam attacks

Worried by the increasing wave of attacks in recent times, the #BringBackOurGirls group has warned that if not checked, the country may return to the era of frequent bomb blasts and suicide attacks witnessed sometimes ago. Speaking at the group’s sit-out yesterday, aa member of the group, who led the sitting, Dr Allen Manasah, said the whole story about mercenaries from south Africa seems to be true because with the news of their departure after the 2015 general election, the Boko Haram insurgents seem to have increased.   He further noted that the retaking of Marta, the recent pockets of suicide attacks in some parts of Yobe and Borno by the insurgents, are all indications and confirmation of what the president elect, General Mohammedu Buhari said about the mercenaries contributing to the successes against insurgency, is true. Speaking further at the sit-out, another member of the BBOG, Dr Emman Shehu warned that up until when the issue of intelligence gathering is taking seriously by our security agencies, the fight against insurgency and Boko Haram will be difficult to win. “Up until we address the issue of intelligence gathering and not undermining our enemies, we are going nowhere. The Boko Haram members had started this race before us and we must take it seriously. They have overwhemlinng advantage and except the incoming adninistration is ready to fight the insurgency with seriousness, we may not overcome the insurgency. It has been established that terrorists groups share intelligence and copy one another. “We are entering a serious and dangerous phase in the fight against insurgents across the world that really require the corporation of the world general. Except there is a synergy of all the countries, the world would find it difficult to subdue terrorism,” Dr Shehu submitted. Reacting to the assertion made by the Borno state gover, Kashim Shettima that the Chibok girls maybe kept in bonkers in the Sambisa forest, the group wandered why Shettima would just be saying that, noting that “ the Borno state governor is just finding out that they (Boko Haram) have bonkers? The sect could not have stayed in Sambisa and allow themselves to be killed. They have to find ways to hide. They have links with other terrorist groups. They fight to win. The sooner we start taking this fight seriously, the better for us.
