LAGOS – Mr Abraham Ololade, Chairman, Rosellas Amusement Park, Lagos, on Thursday observed that government could only harness, exploit and develop its existing tourism potential through Public Private Partnership (PPP) deals.
Ololade told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos that investing in tourism was capital intensive and required the contribution of experts in the private sector to move it forward.
“The sector is capital intensive and requires both government contribution and private input to move the sector forward.
“We have over 100 tourism practitioners in the country to develop the sector but it cannot be done by the practitioners alone because it requires huge funding.
“The country also has hundreds of tourist sites scattered round the country, but all these cannot be developed or exploited by government alone without private practitioners intervention,’’ he said.
Ololade expressed optimistism that investing in the country’s rich tourism opportunities would increase government revenue.

“Nigeria’s tourism sector could be the pillar to enhance the economic growth, infrastructure development, trade promotion, poverty eradication and job creation if well harnessed,’’ he said.
According to him, his organisation had entered into partnership with some government’s establishment to promote and develop the sector. (NAN)
