ABUJA – The Team Manager of Rivers Angels, Matilda Otuene, on Friday said they were ready to stop at nothing to enter the record books by winning the Women’s Federation Cup again.
Otuene said this while speaking with newsmen after they beat Delta Queens of Asaba 2-1 in Abuja to book a final match ticket with Sunshine Angels of Akure.
She said the Port Harcourt-based side would leave no stone unturned to ensure they won the 2014 title, which would be their fifth consecutive win.
The club official said they knew it was going to be exciting to break the record by becoming the first club to win the Women’s Federation Cup for five consecutive years.
“Our watchword in the team has been consistency, discipline and hard work and we know what is at stake, that every team wants to win the trophy like us.

“But, because we want to break the record of winning five titles consecutively, we have been working for it.
“And we will stop at nothing to achieve our set target. We won’t leave any stone unturned,’’ Otuene said.
She, however, said the club’s coaching crew would work on the team’s scoring abilities as they lost many scoring chances against the Delta Queens.
“Our players did well, but they lost so many chances. However, we are not going to relent in our efforts.
“The coaching crew knows what to do, having seen their goal scoring abilities. So, we will go back home and begin to plan for the game ahead of us.
“And I am sure that we will make our fans and the Rivers Government proud when we meet Sunshine Angels in Lagos,’’ Otuene said.
Rivers Angels have won the Women’s Federation Cup every year since 2010, with the 3-0 defeat of Nasarawa Amazons in 2013 as the last.
The 2014 final match will hold at the Teslim Balogun Stadium in Lagos on Aug. 16.(NAN)
