Ephraim added that adequate support from the government and private organisations in the state would help take the sport to a higher level.
“At inception, the board of the Lagos State Cricket Association had this road map of developing cricket mainly at the grassroots and sustaining the tempo of development throughout its tenure.
“That we have successively done. We currently have over 20 secondary schools playing cricket in Lagos at different levels, we have also introduced it to some primary schools.
“So, the state board is in its own way, although we are cash trap, still investing in the development of cricket.
“For example, a school like CMS Grammar School where cricket was last played about 20 years ago, now has a crop of young boys – 45 in number – who play the game currently and they have their session once a week.
“The association is committed to the development of cricket in the state and maybe with a little more of funding from government and with support from the private sector, we will be able to achieve our dream of having cricket being played even in street corners in Lagos.“
