Abuja – The police on Tuesday arraigned a 39-year-old businessman, Ukechukwu Awuzie, in a Kado Grade 1 Area Court, Abuja, for alleged attempt to commit an offence.
The prosecutor, Insp. Simon Ibrahim, told the court that the accused was arrested on May 20 by a team of police officers on duty at GTB, Jabi, Abuja, and brought to the Utako Police Station.
He alleged that he was about to steal a customer’s money within the bank premises before he was arrested.
Ibrahim said that the offence is punishable under Section 95 of the Penal Code.
The accused denied committing the offence, adding that he was in the bank to carry out transaction.
The Judge, Alhaji Abubakar Sadiq, granted the accused bail in the sum of N50, 000 with a surety in like sum, and adjourned the case till July 6 for further hearing. (NAN)
