KADUNA – The Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), on Tuesday commended Gov. Nasiru El-Rufai of Kaduna State for appointing Hajia Hadiza Bala-Usman as the first female Chief of Staff in the state.
The association also commended the governor for appointing Amina Saude-Mohammed as his Personal Assistant.
Mrs Juliet Oyoyo, NAWOJ chairperson in the state, said this in a statement in Kaduna.
She said the gesture demonstrated the governor’s commitment to the cause of women.
“It is an indication that the governor will carry women along in his administration.
“Women have always played a vital role in the development and advancement of any community.
“The appointment is highly commendable, as they are persons of integrity, who have proven themselves in their fields of specialisation.

“It is an attestation to the saying that when you empower a woman, you have empowered a nation.
“We implore the appointees to be good ambassadors of their gender and the society as a whole,” she said.
Oyoyo also advised the appointees to lead by example and mentor other women in the state to contribute to societal development.
She urged other governors to emulate El-Rufai by appointing women into key positions of government. (NAN)
