PANKSHIN – The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Plateau State on Monday, said that its doors were wide open for those that left the party but interested in returning to the party.
Mr Haruna Dabin, Plateau Chairman of the party said this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Pankshin.
According to him, the party leadership in the state was aware that so many card carrying members who left the party were very much interested in returning.
He expressed delight on the development saying: “We in PDP have decided to throw our doors open for those interested in coming back to the largest party in Africa.
“What we expect the returnees to do is to first go to their wards and register afresh so that they can be given membership cards.
“That is the only condition which when fulfilled; a returnee could be accepted back into the party. “
He said that PDP, under the leadership of Gov. Jonah Jang, had been able to transform Plateau and “painstakingly set it on the part of growth and development”.
The chairman debunked the insinuation that the party had closed its doors against interested returnees describing it as unfair comment.
He said: “PDP is so large to accommodate all citizens of Nigeria and I don’t think that is a fair comment about us. “
He assured the returnees that the date would be communicated to them as soon as decision was taken on the issue.
The chairman advised new members to also go to their wards to register and obtain membership cards in accordance with the party’s constitution. (NAN)
