ABUJA – The Sen. Ike Ekweremadu PDP Post-2015 General Election Review Committee, has set up three task teams to meet with its stakeholders in the different geo-political zones of the country.
Ekweremadu, chairman of the committee told newsmen on Tuesday in Abuja at the end of a meeting with the party`s Zonal Vice chairmen and its states chairmen.
“We have now come to another critical point; we now want to take our work to the ordinary people of the PDP in their respective zones and states.
“We have decided to draw up a timetable for zonal consultations,’’ he said.
Ekweremadu said that the committee which had received over 1,000 memoranda from PDP members across the country would commence the tour on July 6.
He said that each of the task teams would cover two geo-political zones to collect and collate more information from party members across the zones.
The committee would cover pre-election issues, pre-primary issues, post-primary issues, election matters, post-election matters and general issues with a view to repositioning the party.
He, however, pleaded with PDP members nationwide to avail the committee information and facts that would assist its members in performing their duties.
He assured that the parent committee would take their submissions into consideration while writing its final report.
“We shall send three teams round the country to find out what happened in the various parts of the country before, during and after the party primary and the election.
“We urge our members to avail these committees of credible information which will help them arrive at the way forward.
“We are aware that some of our members are not happy with what happened then.
“ We assure you that we shall take all your input into consideration in the final report and annex them to the report,’’ he said.
According to him, former governor of Kaduna state, Alhaji Ahmed Makarfi would head the committee for the South -South and South -East zones, while Alhaji Shuaibu Oyedokun would head the North-East and North-West zones.
He said that Mr Emeka Ihedioha would head the committee that would cover the North -Central and South-West zones.

Ekweremadu expressed optimism that the committees would round off its assignment by July 10.
He advised party members who may still have input to make, to take advantage of the zonal visitation to do so.
He said that the committee was poised to ensure that the PDP was refreshed and moved forward.
He noted that its template would be on the party`s website to ensure easy download and contributions by party members.
He however, debunked insinuations that the PDP was dead adding that it was as strong as ever.
“PDP is strong as ever. We have 49 members in the Senate and nobody can say a party with 49 members in the Senate is dying. Certainly, that is not true.
“That is not how to die and we have 13 state governors and we believe that we are going to get more when the remaining governorship elections are held,’’ he said.
Ekweremadu appealed to PDP members to remain calm, faithful and patient with its leadership, stressing that efforts are being made to reposition the party.
He further said that the party`s leadership was doing everything to regain the confidence of its members both at the state and national level.
He expressed optimism that the PDP would regain power to give Nigerians a new lease of life for a complete new government in 2019.
He also denied allegations that the committee was delaying the emergence of a new National Chairman for the party.
“We have our own ways of producing our leadership so, the work of this committee is not hampering us,” he said.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), reports that the review committee was set up after the general elections to draw up a road map for the party’s reconciliation and way forward among others.(NAN)
