Sango-Ota (Ogun) – An Ota Magistrates ‘Court in Ogun on Thursday sentenced a 32-year-old man, Timothy Onyeka, to six months in prison after he pleaded guilty for attempting to steal a Toyota car valued at N1.1million.
The Chief Magistrate, Mrs Funke Odubanjo, however gave the convict an option to pay N40, 000 as fine.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Onyeka, who resides along Idioroko Road in Ota, is being tried for stealing.
Earlier, the prosecutor, Sgt. Itaita Ebibomino, told the court that the accused committed the offence on June 5 at about 9.00 a.m. at Coronation Power & Gas Company, along Abeokuta Expressway, Ota.

Ebibomino had alleged that the accused was caught in the process of attempting to steal a Toyota Camry car valued at N1.1million, belonging to one Taiwo Lukuman.
The prosecutor said that the offence contravened Section 508 of the Criminal Code Volume 1 of the Revised Laws of Ogun State, 2006. (NAN)
