Bremen (Germany) – Investigators have arrested a suspected member of the ISIS terrorist organisation in the northern German city of Bremen and charged him with planning an attack, prosecutors said on Wednesday.
The 26-year-old was detained at the city’s airport as he was returning from the Middle East.
Prosecutors said he travelled to Syria in April and participated in training to fight the Syrian and Iraqi armies at an Islamic State camp.
“There is reason to believe he participated in fighting in those countries,’’ the prosecutors said.
Officials added that the man was known for being involved in the city-state’s Salafist circles and had close contacts to an outlawed group that supports the ISIS. (dpa/NAN)
