Ilorin -The Police in Kwara have arrested four suspected kidnappers in Omu-Aran, Irepodun Local Government Area of the State.
The police, who showed the suspects to newsmen on Thursday, also brought out five suspects arrested in connection with armed robbery.
Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), ASP Ajayi Okasanmi, said the suspected kidnappers were arrested for kidnapping Sarikin Fulani, Aliyu Harande in Omu-Aran.
“Harande was kidnapped while praying in a mosque behind his house in the town.’’
Okasanmi said the suspects were arrested by the police anti-kidnap team.
He added that police recovered a vehicle and guns from the suspects who have allegedly confessed to kidnapping in Omu-Aran and environs.
Okasanmi said the case was still under investigation as efforts were on to arrest the leader of the gang.
The police spokesman also announced arrest of three suspected cult members at Oke-Oyi area on the outskirts of Ilorin.
He said the suspects, whom he described as members of Eiye Confraternity, were rounded up when they were forcefully initiating some people.
“An axe, Eiye cult relics and criminal charms were recovered from them.’’
He also said the suspected armed robbers were arrested following the arrest of receivers of their stolen items. (NAN)
