The All Progressives Congress says it has come to its notice that there had been a properly mapped out war to destabilize the party and that it would no longer tolerate it.
Chairman of the APC, Chief John Odigie Oyegun, disclosed this on Monday when a high powered delegation paid a courtesy call on the Edo State Governor Adams Oshiomhole.
He also said that the Federal Government has reneged on its agreement not to politicise the security challenges in the state by accusing the APC of sponsoring the Boko Haram sect.
Chief Odigie Oyegun said that what is being witnessed across most APC states bears all the marks of a calculated attempt to destabilise the party using the instruments of state. He said that the party has decided to tackle the challenges headlong.
He also assured the Edo State Governor of the party’s support in view of the State House of Assembly crisis, “After due considerations at a meeting held on Friday, we decided that it was immediate and urgent that we pay a visit to you, to come and tell you and of course the Legislators that we know what you have been passing through, we understand and we are glad with the way you have been managing what you have been going through. [eap_ad_1] “This kind of rascality and indiscipline must not be seen to be rewarded. Against all odds, you have remained firm and this is the spirit of the new APC.”
Governor Adams Oshiomhole, who narrated the genesis of the crisis in the state, noted that ordinarily the situation in the state should not have been referred to as crisis but rather an act of insubordination. He, however, expressed concern about the role of the Police.
“It is more of the way the Police managed or intervened in the suspension and providing security cover to force these people into the House that has become an issue.
“I think you hit the nail on the head when you condemned the act of reckless misuse of state apparatus, taking the instruments of coercion, such as the Police because in a democracy, the police itself must be seen as instruments of creation of the law and the protection of lives and property and not otherwise”, he said.
Members of the delegation included Rivers State Governor, Rotimi Amaechi; former Kwara State Governor, Senator Bukola Saraki; APC Leader, Dr Ogbonanya Onu; APC National Secretary, Mainala Boni; National Publicity Secretary, Lai Mohammed; House of Representatives Minority Leader, Femi Gbajabiamila, amongst others
The APC has scheduled a press conference in Abuja on Thursday to address the issues raised. (Vanguard)[eap_ad_4]
