Barely a week after a 20-month-old baby was abducted and a suspected ritualist’s den was uncovered at the Mile 2 area in Abeokuta North Local Government area of Ogun state, a 23-year old woman, suspected to be a commercial sex worker, was killed and her corpse was dumped at a refuse dump site located at the Olomore junction in the early hours of Sunday, also in Abeokuta North.
The slain woman, who was reportedly killed in company of her friend whose whereabouts were yet to be ascertained, was alleged to have been killed by suspected ritualists who cut some flesh from her right arm before her corpse was later thrown off a moving Jeep along Olomore-Ita- Oshin road, landing beside a refuse dump site.
The deceased later identified as Sitira by one of her relatives who had earlier reported the victim missing at the Lafenwa Divisional Police headquarters, was suspected to be one of the commercial sex workers plying trade within the Abeokuta metropolis at night.
Journalists who went to the scene of the incident at Olomoore junction, saw ladies’ wears and items including pants, brassieres, ladies’ armless camisole, lip-sticks, powder kits, nail-paint as well as a pack of cotton wool which could be linked to the second lady, whose whereabouts were unkonwn at the time of filing this report.
Although, the fully-clothed Sitira’s corpse, with her armless camisole and “leggings” were intact as the dead body was lying on ground about 500 meters away from the spot of the items. A closer observation of her corpse revealed that Sitira had substantial flesh from her right arm cut away with body fluid oozing out.
Meanwhile, a middle-aged woman, Esther Adewuyi, who identified herself as a relative of Sitira, spoke with the journalists amid tears, explaining that the slain lady had been living with her mother at Iberekodo area of Abeokuta North Local Government after the death of her only child almost two years ago.
Esther further explained that Sitira, an hair stylist apprentice (hair dresser), was last seen in their house around 10pm on Saturday night where they both discussed plans for her freedom from apprenticeship, but she revealed that nobody, including her younger siblings in the family, knew when she went out.
The mysterious disappearance of yet-to-be identified sex worker colleague of Sitira and the sight of Sitira’s corpse, which was allegedly dropped by a moving Jeep at Olomore junction in early hours of Sunday, gave indications that Olomore-Ita-Osin area, along Abeokuta-Lagos expressway which was known to be notorious for harbouring ritualists in the past, is regaining its notoriety.
Meanwhile, the Ogun State Command of the Nigeria Police was yet to give any comment on the incident as the Command Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Muyiwa Adejobi could not be reached as of the time of writing the report.
