Nigerians in the Disapora dissociates self from Aug. 24 Diaspora Day

Abuja – Nigerians in Diaspora Organisation, Americas (NIDOA) have dissociated themselves from the proposed Aug. 24-25 Diaspora Day purported to be funded by a group and the government.

This is contained in a statement issued on Friday in Abuja by Dr George Manuwuike, Chairman, Board of Trustees of NIDO.

The statement said that Diaspora Day was celebrated by NIDO Worldwide in Abuja on July 25 as provided for in Nigeria’s national calendar.

“Diaspora Day 2015 was well attended by the Diaspora community from the four continents- Americas, Europe, Asia and African continents.

“NIDO Worldwide exclusively funded the 2015 day in its quest to contribute to the on-going anti-corruption war, and to foster accountability.

“Herein, NIDOA and NIDO Worldwide dissociate itself from the proposed Aug. 24-25 day to be funded by the government,” the statement said.

It urged all members of NIDO Americas and NIDO Worldwide to disregard any notice or publications to the contrary.
