Umuahia – The Abia government has pledged its consistence in facilitating programmes and policies for good governance and sustained development.
Presenting the administration’s scorecard of its 300 days in office in Umuahia on Wednesday, the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr Godwin Adindu, said that it was committed to keeping its campaign promises and upholding the principles of service and performance.
Adindu said that the administration was not only interested in addressing the current needs of the people, but also their future aspirations.
He said that the federal allocation to the state was presently below N2 billion, but that the government had succeeded in constructing 67 roads, 27 of them commissioned.
“In the past 300 days, the state government executed some tactical actions which include Aba urban renewal programme, government financial restructuring initiative, domestic waste management and education for employment programme.
“We also have “made in Aba campaign,’’ renovation of dilapidated primary schools, improved security, return to farming and women in fishing initiative, establishment of trade centres, Aba industrial clusters and market development,” he said
Adindu said that these were key actions of the state government in the last 300 days that had helped to shape and transform the state.
He admitted that in deploying the actions, the government had no option than to step on toes for the general good of the state. (NAN)
