LAGOS – The Secretary of the Nigeria Boxing Board of Control (NBB of C), Remi Aboderin, on Monday debunked reports that there was change in the leadership of the body.
Aboderin in a telephone interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) described the report as “unfounded.’’

Media reports had it that there was infighting in the organisation which led to a change of hands in the leadership of the body.
Aboderin said that the status quo still remained, ahead of an executive meeting, slated for Dec. 30 in Lagos.

“The board is intact we are going to have an executive meeting on Tuesday where most of the issues will be discussed.

“We are looking forward to a better 2015 in professional boxing so the stakeholders are working round the clock to create a better environment for the sport,” Aboderin said.
According to him, the outcome of the round-table on Tuesday will determine the fate of the current board and professional boxing in Nigeria.

The sports administrator, who allayed fears of in-fighting, said that there was no cause for alarm as the status quo was being maintained.
“We are working to have conducive platform where athletes, promoters and sponsors will find a safe haven to work in,” he said. (NAN)
