ABUJA – Frontline presidential aspirant on the platform of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has cancelled the 13th colloquium to mark his 70th birthday.
The cancellation of the colloquium was in honour of victims of the Kaduna-Abuja train attacked by suspected terrorists on Monday evening.
Tinubu, who announced the cancellation a few minutes after the official kick-off of the event described it as a national tragedy.
He said: “I am very sad about the situation and it calls for sober reflection,” before cancelling the event, which already attracted many important dignitaries.
Sundiata Post notes that the terrorists’ attack on the Abuja-to-Kaduna train has recorded casualties, among them being Mr. Lawal Ozigi, secretary-general of the Trade Union Congress (TUC) and Dr Chinelo Megafu, a young dental surgeon, who was practising in Kaduna but was reported to have resigned her appointment preparatory to relocating out of Nigeria by Friday this week.
