SULEJA (NIGER) – Red Bricks Academy, an Abuja based Secondary Vocational School, will provide free training on skill acquisition to over 100 youths and civil servants in Suleja, Niger.
Mr Olusegun Oyeleke, who heads the Suleja branch of the academy, made the disclosure on Monday in Suleja during the orientation of the participants.
He said the three months training in different fields of human endeavour, was aimed at making the youths self-reliant.
He said the youths would be trained in animal husbandry, automobile mechanic, soap and cream making, bags, beads and hat making among others.
“I sat down and thought that it will be a waste to have such knowledge and not impart it on others.
“So I decided to contribute my quota to the society from which I have benefited by assisting the youths get off the streets especially these days when white collar job is hard to come by,’’ he said.
In his remark, Mr Niyi Afolabi, the Manager, Red Bricks Schools, said the traning was aimed at empowering the youths.
He said the participants would also be taught marketing strategies.

He urged the participants to establish cooperative society to enable them access federal government’s fund set aside for small and medium scale enterprises.
Mrs Mary Katugwa, the Area manager, Industrial Training Fund, Minna branch, said the training would help to reduce youth restiveness. (NAN)
