PORT HARCOURT (Sundiata Post) – The creation of access to justice and the promotion of the rule of law form the foundation of the rapid development of Rivers State.
In a press statement signed by Mr. Simeon Nwakaudu, Special Assistant (Media) to the Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, the state government said the successful commencement of 2015/2016 Legal Year in Rivers State with a special court session at the Chief Judge’s Ceremonial Court Hall marked the beginning of a new era of the consolidation of the gains of the judicial reforms embarked upon by the administration.
“Governor Wike who is a firm believer and practitioner in the rule of law, will continue to advance the cause of justice for all which is the cornerstone of peace and security.
“By granting the state judiciary financial autonomy and entrenching the independence of the judiciary, Governor Wike has created a totally democratic state where separation of powers is practiced to the advantage of the people.
“Governor Wike will sustain the gains made by his administration in improving access to justice in the state and also take further steps to improve justice delivery as he outlined in his landmark address during the Special Court Session to mark the beginning of the 2015/2016 Legal Year.
“Indeed the successful revival of the Rivers State Judiciary by the Wike administration has contributed to the development witnessed in the state in the last five months.
