GOMBE – Accord Party on Wednesday elected Alhaji Abubakar Hashidu as its candidate for the gubernatorial elections in the 2015 general elections in Gombe State.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Alhaji Usman Adamu was also nominated as the candidate’s running mate.
The party also elected Alhaji Sabo Waziri-Malala as candidate for the Gombe North Senatorial District; Alhaji Hamma Shehu, candidate for Dukku/Nafada Federal Constituency and Mr Halilu Jonah, as candidate for Balanga/Billiri Federal Constituency at the House of Representatives.
Similarly, Malam Sani Musa was elected as candidate for Dukku North constituency and Malami Hashidu for Dukku South constituency at the Gombe State House of Assembly.
Speaking to newsmen, the gubernatorial candidate promised to build on the former Gov. Abubakar Hashidu’s legacy in the state and create job opportunities and employment for women and the youth.
Hashidu called on the electorate in the state to support the party to wrest power from the PDP-led government in the state.
He assured the people of the state that if elected, he would ensure justice in all affairs of his government.
The North East Zonal Chairmen of the party, Alhaji Dalhatu Liman-Katagum, advised the electorate against voting moneybags as well as shun religious bigotry in politicking.
The Public Affairs Officer (PAO) of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Gombe State, Alhaji Mukhtar Gidado, called on the electorate to collect their voters’ cards, abide by party’s guidelines, manifestoe and the Electoral Act in the course of the elections.
Gidado also called for women participation in the electoral process, to give them a voice in the country. (NAN)
