Ikeja – A 44-year-old woman, Olajumoke Famodu, charged with stealing her company’s N500,000 appeared before an Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court on Monday.
The defendant, an accountant, who resides at No.1, Adekola St., Abesan Estate , Ipaja in Lagos State, is being tried for stealing to which she pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, Insp. Innocent Odugbo, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on Sept. 17 at the Opebi Branch of Sweet Sensation, based in Ikeja.
Odugbo said that the defendant failed to remit N500,000 from the proceeds of the sales the branch made into the company’s account.
“The missing money was discovered when the company’s account was audited,” he said.
The prosecutor said that the offence contravened Section 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The chief magistrate, Mrs S.K. Matepo, admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum.
Matepo adjourned the case until Feb.26 for mention.
