Kano – Bidbit Multimedia Ltd, a Kano-based multimedia company, says it has selected 30 youths for training as actors and actresses.
Mr Babs Oyeniyi, the Project Manager of the company, made this known at a news conference in Kano on Saturday.
Oyeniyi said that the company had introduced a new TV reality show, Kannywood Next Movie Star to identify young people interested in becoming performers and actors in the film industry.
According to him, the aim of the project is to give them the opportunity to develop their talent.
“There is no doubt that the development and growth of the film industry is hinged on quality of talents produced and attracted from time to time.
“We cannot continue to berate the industry for low quality and substandard product output when the raw materials and skilled talents are few.
“Many stars have been produced by the industry in the last two years; but most of them are still the same today as they lack formal training,” he said.
He stated that the training will run for 30 days and that 10 best trainees will be selected from the 30 participating in the training.
“Only 10 winners will emerge from the contestants.
“The contestants are expected to qualify from auditions that will hold in five major cities in the Northern part of the country.

“Two winners will emerge from the 10 and will be given a branded car with a one-year artiste management contract each.
“The remaining eight winners will also be given one-year artiste management contract each,” he said. (NAN)
