BERLIN – German activists on Thursday laid out body bags at Berlin’s central Brandenburg Gate, to draw attention to the plight of migrants attempting to cross the Mediterranean.
“Together for Africa”, the umbrella group of humanitarian organisations that staged the protest, said 23,700 migrants have drowned in the Mediterranean since 2000.

The activists said they were calling global attention to the bad living conditions in Africa.
They said the conditions have to improve in order to alleviate the migration crisis that was gathering pace along the EU periphery.
The organisers said that similar protests were being held in other German cities, including Dresden.(dpa/NAN)
