Lagos – Veteran Nollywood actor, Kanayo O. Kanayo, on Friday launched a mentorship project named Kanayo O. Kanayo Mentoring Academy (KOKMA), designed to provide the younger generation with support in their career choice.
Kanayo said in a statement made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that the aim of the project was to inspire youths in the society to be able to achieve their goals.
the statement further said that the objective of the academy was to give back to the society, having had a rough start himself.
“Kanayo O Kanayo Mentoring Academy is about mentoring the young ones. It is a way of giving back to the society.
“The key message of KOKMA is to let the young ones know that they can be whatever they desire to be in life.
“Therefore, they must be guided in order not to allow any circumstances to limit their desire to excel in life.”
The statement said that the project would be extended all over the African continent.
“My team and I have set up a five-year programme to ensure that we launch out all around Nigeria, and into many other parts of Africa,” Kanayo was quoted as saying.
NAN reports that Kanayo, who was born Modestus Onyekwere, is a seasoned thespian who has made his mark right from the foundational days of Nollywood.
He has featured in numerous movies including “Tears in My Heart’’, “Festival of Fire’’ and Kunle Afolayan’s award winning movie,“October 1’’. (NAN)
