Yola – Ahead of June Local Government Election in Adamawa, the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state has assured aspirants of free and fair primaries.
The acting Chairman of the party, Alhaji Ibrahim Bilal said this while presenting the timetable for the primaries at a news briefing in Yola on Tuesday.
Bilal said all aspirants were expected to return their duly completed forms on or before May 6, while names of aspirants would be displayed on May 9.
“The screening of aspirants will hold from May 11 to May 14, 2016, while entertainment of appeals from the exercise will hold from May 16 to May 17, 2016.
“Similarly, display of final list of aspirants will hold on May 19, 2016.” Bilal said
According to Bilal, the chairmanship and councillorship primary will hold on May 21 and May 28 respectively, while May 30 has been slated for completion/ return of nomination forms to Adamawa State Independent Electoral Commission.
“To avoid too much crowd at the venues of the primaries, SEC has approved accreditation/voting at the same time using coded and personalised ballot papers,” he added.
He said that SEC had also set up committees for the screening of both chairmanship and councilorship aspirants to ascertain their worthiness before the primaries. (NAN)
