Yola – The Adamawa State Independent Electoral Commission (ADSIEC), has given 90 days notice of its intention to conduct local government elections in the State.
Positions to be filled are those of chairmen, vice chairmen and councilors in the 21 local government councils of the state.
This is contained in a statement by Chairman of ADSIEC, Alhaji Isa Shettima, given to News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Yola on Friday.
It said a stakeholders’ meeting with all political parties and other concerned bodies would be convened immediately to intimate them of details of the election time table and guidelines.
“Acting upon the powers conferred on it by section 20 (I) of the Electoral Act of 2002, the commission, by this release, has given all political parties, stakeholders and the general public a 90-day notice as prescribed by law.[pro_ad_display_adzone id=”70560″]
“Consequently, the Commission intends to conduct elections into the offices of Chairmen, Vice Chairmen and Councillors in the 21 Local Government Councils of Adamawa State.
“For the avoidance of doubt, the 90-day notice commences on Wednesday March 16 and expires on June15”, it said. (NAN)
