Yola – Women in Adamawa have lauded President Muhammadu Buhari for deciding to inaugurate N1.6 billion National Women Empowerment Fund.
A cross section of women who spoke to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Yola said the measure was a welcome one and needed to be implemented without delay.
“I am happy with the broadcast, particularly the president’s appreciation of women’s role in nation building.
“His decision to inaugurate a N1.6 billion for women empowerment is a laudable idea that need to be implement without delay,” said Hajara Yakubu, a shop owner in Yolde-Pâté ward, said.
Lucy Musa, a vegetable seller, also lauded the empowerment fund and urged government to ensure that the programme benefitted those targeted.
“People like me will be happy to have access to the fund to boost business.” Musa said.
Some internally displaced women, Mayam Isa, Aisha Ibrahim, Laila Baba and Hannatu Joseph, also lauded the idea and urged government to accord displaced women in the areas affected by insurgency, priority. (NAN)
