Lagos – Former Super Eagles midfielder, Mutiu Adepoju, has commended Nigeria’s Super Eagles for their 2-0 victory over the Sihlangu Semnikati (King’s Shield) of Swaziland on Tuesday in Port Harcourt.
The win means the Super Eagles are through to the group phase of the Russia 2018 World Cup Qualifiers.
Adepoju told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos that despite the victory, they should remain focused on their upcoming matches in the next round of the qualifiers.
The 24 teams that qualified for the group phase of the qualifiers will be categorised into five groups.
The team that emerge top of each group are expected to qualify for the World Cup finals in Russia.
The former midfielder, therefore, urged the Super Eagles to play as a cohesive unit to stand the chance of qualifying for the World Cup.
“The team has potentials and we just have to bring out all the potentials that would make the team play well and win the matches.
“Now in the group stages, I mean we have to win a lot of matches, more than the opponents so that we can qualify and that is just what we have to concentrate on.
