Abuja – The Abuja Environmental Protection Board (AEPB) on Tuesday sealed the City Plaza, Garki, for failure to pay accumulated N60 million administrative charges on waste collection.
This is contained in a statement issued by Mr Joe Ukairo, Head, Information and Outreach Programme of the board, in Abuja.
The statement said that AEPB would continue with its renewed determination to recover all government’s revenue accruing to the FCT Administration from waste collection charges.
It said that the board had dragged the owners and managers of the Plaza the Mobile Court.
The statement said that the representatives of the plaza were absent during the court hearing.
According to the statement, in his ruling, the presiding Magistrate, Jubril Kutugi, issued a seal off order against the plaza for contempt.
The statement said that the Director of AEPB, Baba Lawan, assured that the operation would be sustained.

It warned hawkers, street traders and other illegal operators to stay off major streets and roads in the city.
“AEPB is committed to arrest and prosecute any street hawkers, street traders and anybody who engage in such illegal operation,’’ it quoted Lawan as saying.
The statement said that the director also warned Corporate Organisations and other businesses against condoning hawkers in front or around their offices.
It added that AEPB would be left with no option than to seal off the office of any company found guilty of such illegal acts.
The statement commended residents and business operators for the support they have given to the board towards achieving a cleaner and sustainable city in the FCT. (NAN)
