Stephen Keshi is banking on the players plying their trade in the domestic league to re-enact the 2013 feat that saw them qualify for, and win the Africa Cup of Nations in South Africa.
The 53-year old Super Eagles’ gaffer on Sunday, added a list of 15 foreign-based players to the 26 home-based players already in camp for next month’s 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Chad.

“We qualified for, and won, the Nations Cup in 2013 with a lot of home-based players in the team and we also had some new faces then from abroad,” Keshi recalled.
“We’ve always wanted to work with the home-based players because they did a lot for us that time and we want to continue that,” he said.
Sunday Mba, Azubuike Egwuekwe, Ejike Uzorenyi, Godfrey Oboabona and Gabriel Rueben were some of the home-based players that featured in the 2013 AFCON qualifiers and at the tournament proper in South Africa which the Super Eagles won.
