ABUJA (Sundiata Post) – John Ogu, Nigerian International and Maccabi Kabilio FC of Israel midfielder, has advised Super Eagles goalkeeper, Stanley Nwabali, to stay focused despite accolades from fans.
Ogu, via his X, formerly twitter, handle on Thursday, urged the goalie to remain focused, following his excellent display in Nigeria’s 1-0 win against the hosts, Côte D’Ivoire.
“Dear Nwabali, don’t let all these their (fans) shout get to you o! Stay focused and work hard,” Ogu wrote on X.
Nwabali, who plies his trade with Chippa United, South Africa, has been lauded for his performance in goal for the side in his debut outing at the African Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Côte D’Ivoire.
Nigeria are now in second place in Group A with four points, while Equatorial Guinea top the group with four points as well, based on goal difference.
Hosts Côte d’ Ivoire are on three points, with Guinea Bissau occupying the bottom position without a point.
The Super Eagles will face Guinea Bissau in their last group game on Monday. (NAN)
