Kaduna – A Non Governmental Organisation, AFEX, said it has supported over 100, 000 farmers with various farming inputs across 600 communities in the country.
The Country Drector AFEX, Mr Ayodeji Balogun said this on Thursday at Pampaida in Saulawa District, Ikara Local Government, Kaduna State, during a harvest party organized by the NGO for farmers.
Balogun said the organization is proud of what it has built in the last five years of its programme.
The director said the event was to meet the farmers and identify their challenges, so as to find solutions especially access to storage facilities and markets.
“In monetary terms, for the past five years, AFEX value of commodity exchange is over 40 million dollars and over 10 million dollars has been unlocked for financing farmers
“We are also working to unlock additional solutions with about N100 million dollars to demand side and the entire value chain from farm gate to factory gates.”
The Commercial Manager AFEX, Mr Iruansi Itoandon
said the Harvest party was aimed at celebrating the beginning of the harvest season with the farmers.
“They are our partners and friends, so we are recognizing their contributions in making the season a great one in the state,” he said.
Itoandon said AFEX would continue to support the farmers with financing and storage facilities.
He said the journey so far with the community has been exciting, adding that the responsiveness of farmers was quite impressive.
A farmer, Usman Shehu commended the organization for asisting them with enough inputs.
