Afghan Police seize 270 kg of illegal drugs in Herat

KABUL (Sundiata Post) – Afghan police have seized more than 270 kilograms of illegal drugs in Herat province, including 70 kg of heroin, 42 kg of opium poppy, and 163 kg of methamphetamine, according to provincial police spokesman Ghulam Nabi Nabizada.
The drugs were uncovered during intelligence-led operations aimed at intercepting a smuggling attempt.
While no arrests have been made yet, efforts are ongoing to apprehend those involved.
This follows a similar operation in Kandahar province 10 days earlier, where more than one tonne of illegal drugs was confiscated and 12 suspected smugglers were arrested.
