Abuja – Adeka Duadu, Coach of Mark Mentors Basketball Club, said on Thursday that the team was optimistic of a good outing at the forthcoming Club Basketball Tournament (CBT) for men in Angola.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the championship is slated for between Dec. 10 and Dec. 19.
Duadu told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) at the indoor of the Basketball Court in Package B of the National Stadium,Abuja.
He said that the team was looking forward to the tournament as it had been preparing for it for long.
“ We have been preparing for the tournament for quite a while now and we are looking forward to participating in it for the first time.
“We do not forget the fact that we are the defending champions for Nigeria. We want to ensure that we represent Nigeria very well at the championship,’’ he said.
The coach added that the club had made provisions for 15 players.
“ We have applied for visas for our 15 players, but the clubs’ best 12 players will play during the tournament.
“We have registered all of them so that we can have those we can fall back on in the event that one or two players have some difficulties with their registration.
“But, I am not sure such a thing would happen.
“ Because most of the players played during the qualifiers and they are eligible to play the proper tournament.

“We are the Nigerian champions; and for the record, no Nigeria has gone for the finals of the club championship.
“ I remember when I was with the Warriors, we hosted the tournament and we came third.
“ I think that was the best record any club in Nigeria has attained so far to date.
“ So we are hoping to go there and get to the highest level possible,’’ Duadu said. (NAN)
