ABUJA – Adamu Erena, the President of Nigeria Squash Federation (NSF), on Wednesday in Abuja said the African Senior Squash Championships would now hold in Abuja from Oct. 6 to Oct. 11.
Erena disclosed this to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) at the Nigerian team’s training camp at the Package B of the Abuja National Stadium.
The team is currently in camp, preparing for the Junior World Squash Championships scheduled to take place from Aug. 6 to Aug. 21 in Windhoek, Namibia.
Erena said the Championships was earlier scheduled for the first week of July, but was later postponed due to what the organisers described as “circumstances beyond the federation’s control’’.[eap_ad_1]
“We agreed then to postpone it due to the state of insecurity in the nation at that point in time.
“Already, participating member-nations have also expressed their concern about the situation.
“So, we unanimously agreed to reschedule it for the first week of October.
“We will be expecting no fewer than 15 African countries to take part in the competition,’’ he said.
The NSF president said the championships, which was meant for athletes in the senior category, would involve male and female players in both the singles and doubles categories.(NAN)[eap_ad_4]
